Cobalt Strike is a command and control platform used in adversarial simulations and red team operations. It is designed to mimic the tactics and techniques used by advanced adveraries in a network. This allows red team operators to assess the detection and response of the security operations center (SOC) and the incident response teams.
Cobalt strike is part of Fortra's security portfolio, after they acquired it in 2020. It was originally created by Raphael Mudge in 2012, and has been actively maintained since that time. It is considered the gold standard of C2 systems for red team operators.
